Position summary:  

The Toolmaker III will supply the manufacturing personnel with fixturing and replacement parts so manufacturing equipment does not sit idle. The manufacturing processes depend on special work holding devices made by the Toolmaker to manufacture product efficiently


Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Manufacture fixturing from engineering drawings with minimal assistance
  • Design some special tooling for manufacturing personnel
  • Perform to the level III skill level
  • Schedule work area with assistance from cell leader
  • Train and develop Level I and II Toolmaker
  • Completes all other work related duties as assigned
  • Competent in levels 1 and 2.
  • Conversational programming, thread mill, Blend arcs, cutter comps.
  • Assist others with programming
  • Knowledge of tool steels
  • Heat treat
  • Knowledge of metallurgy
  • Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
  • Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
  • Partner with other business segments: sales/marketing, customer service, engineering, quality, and finance
  • Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
  • Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
  • Participate in required company meetings
  • Maintain an organized work area (5S)
  • Participate in the Operational Excellence Program
  • Complete all other work duties as assigned
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment


Job Requirements 

  • High school diploma or equivalent degree (GED)
  • Vocational degree or related manufacturing training
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Competent in level 2 CNC Tool maker role
  • Advanced conversational programming skills, Hole pattern, mill angle, mill pockets
  • Capable of performing work activities driven from work orders, project plans, and maintenance.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Strong in problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Able to promote high quality and output.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Ability to identify different materials and their relationship to design
  • Strong math skills, including trigonometry
  • Vocational degree or related manufacturing training
  • Assist in daily activities of the room
  • Advanced GD&T
  • Inspection equipment Tool scope, Contracer, comparator
  • Toolroom or manufacturing machinist background with lathes, mills, and EDM's


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Continuing classes in CAD/CAM
